AMERICUS, GA (March 8, 2024) — Georgia Southwestern State University is waiving its undergraduate application fee throughout the months of March and April, and continues to waive SAT/ACT test score requirements for students with a 3.0 or higher high school GPA.
The Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) has partnered with the University System of Georgia, the Technical College System of Georgia, and private institutions to provide application fee waivers to Georgia high school seniors through the Find Your MATCH in March initiative. Georgia Southwestern is one of 49 institutions across the state participating in the initiative, and will extend their application fee waiver through April as well.
This is the 3rd year GSFC has promoted application fee waivers for the month of March, and the first year to incorporate the new GEORGIA MATCH direct admissions initiative. Through GEORGIA MATCH, over 132,000 Georgia high school seniors have received a personalized letter from Governor Kemp listing the public colleges and universities, technical institutions that are holding a spot for them in the Fall 2024 semester based on their academic eligibility.
“Georgia’s Apply to College Month is great opportunity for high school seniors,” said Jonathan Scott, director of GSW’s Office of Recruitment and Admissions. “It allows students to apply to GSW at no cost. The application and high school transcript are all we need to make an admissions decision. GEORGIA MATCH is an outstanding new initiative. We have seen a 15% increase in applications, many of which are from outside of our primary recruitment counties.”
GSW also offers an access program for students whose GPA is below a 3.0. Every interested student is encouraged to apply to determine if they qualify.
Prospective GSW students may apply online at gsw.edu/apply, where the fee waiver will be automatically applied to each undergraduate application submitted in March and April.
