At the end of June 2020, the University System of Georgia (USG) approved Georgia Southwestern's contingency plans for Fall 2020. These plans outline three distinct scenarios for the fall semester.
As we anticipate the return to campus for students, everyone is working hard to get our Hurricanes back on track and prepare for the resumption of face-to-face classes, programs, and services for the Fall 2020 semester following CDC & GaDPH safety guidelines and precautions. The health and safety of our campus community remains our highest priority as we continue to adapt to the COVID-19 threat.
GSW's return to campus plans were submitted to the University System of Georgia (USG) and approved at the end of June. (These plans do not include the USG's most recent requirement of masks taking effect on July 15, 2020.) The contingency plans outline GSW's response to three different scenarios in which campus leaders have addressed workplace and health safety, academic considerations, public service and outreach, student life services, enrollment management, athletics, communication strategies, expectations for COVID-19 testing, and fiscal impact.
Currently, GSW is operating under Contingency Plan 1. Contingency Plan 2 and 3 will be activated if guidance from the USG, state or federal officials requires.
*Please note, these plans serve as a framework for faculty, staff, and administration as they work to complete more detailed instructions for each of their areas which are continuing to evolve each day. A web page is being being developed that will serve as the information source with detailed guidance and recommendations for resuming campus operations in Fall 2020.
