Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) has received a top ranking as one of the Top 10 Nursing Schools in Georgia according to nurse.org.
GSW’s #1 rank is based on the nursing program’s reputation, NCLEX pass rate, tuition, and acceptance rate. Only schools accredited through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) were eligible for placement on the list. These factors were considered by a panel-reviewed selection committee consisting of five registered nurses.
“We are delighted our CCNE-accredited nursing program has been recognized as number one in Georgia,” said Sandra Daniel, Ph.D., dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. “I believe our success is based upon four major factors: expert faculty, highly motivated students, successful alumni, and excellent clinical experiences through our partnerships with southwest Georgia healthcare organizations such as the Phoebe Health System.”
When deciding which school to choose, students should factor in both benefits and cost, considering that the end goal is always to receive a degree and enter the workforce.
According to nurse.org, the affordable in-state tuition at GSW, “impressive NCLEX pass rate” at 90. 28%, and variety of programs to choose from is a “huge draw” for nursing students.
“Our faculty work hard to ensure our curriculum is current and our students receive the level of education needed to prepare them to be successful in their careers,” stated Daniel. “We set our standards high and are very fortunate to have highly motivated nursing students. As prospective students and their families are considering educational options, this ranking certainly provides them with an assurance that they will receive an excellent nursing education at GSW.”
GSW’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences recently expanded their program that effectively doubled the number of students (40 in the Fall, 40 in the Spring) entering the program each year to help address the critical shortage of nurses in the state of Georgia.
The School of Nursing at GSW has a strong tradition of excellence in educating professional nurses by offering baccalaureate, masters, and certificate programs designed to prepare our graduates to practice in a dynamic and challenging field of health care. They consistently perform above the national average on the nursing licensure exams and nurse practitioners and nursing educators have a high pass rate on the certification exams.
GSW’s nursing program was also recently ranked as the 30 Best Online Master’s in Nursing Informatics programs in the nation for 2019 by toprntobsn.com.
