What to Pack

Packing is always stressful. We have compiled a list of recommended items to make you feel more at home in your residence hall. Please, keep in mind that you may or may not need to bring some items based on your residence hall depending on the layout and that this list should act as a guideline.

Bed & Bath

Each residence hall has a different layout. Please check the dimensions of your room before making purchases.

  • XL Twin sheets, pillows & pillow cases
  • Mattress pad
  • Comforter / blankets
  • Towels & Washcloths
  • Shower curtain & rings - Shower rods will be provided for bathrooms. GSW has no communal bathrooms!
  • Shampoo and hair products
  • Hygiene products such as toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.
  • Razor & shaving cream, lotion, etc. 

Clothing and Accessories

Prepare to put your best foot forward by being prepared and comfortable with the essentials you'll need.

  • Comfortable tops and bottoms
  • Shoes
  • Hats & sunglasses
  • Jackets & sweatshirts
  • Pajamas
  • Business attire - You may have an interview, class presentation, or meeting you need to dress professional for.
  • Athletic attire
  • Rain jacket & boots
  • Swimwear

Laundry & Cleaning

Keep your room nice and tidy with the following items:

  • Laundry basket or bag
  • Hangers
  • Detergent, stain remover, & fabric softener - Use of the washer and dryers are free for residential students. However, these items are not supplied.
  • Lint roller
  • Disinfecting wipes
  • Dish soap
  • Air freshener - Candles are not allowed in the residence halls
  • Trash can & trash bags
  • Small vacuum or broom
  • Plunger, toilet bowl cleaner & brush

Dining

Though residential students will eat at the Caf and other dining areas, it's always great to have what you need for those late night study sessions.

  • Snacks
  • Dishes & silverware
  • Mini fridge & microwave - Some residence halls will have kitchenettes.
  • Napkins & paper towels
  • Water filter or pitcher

Electronics & Supplies

You are here for academics of course. Make sure you check your courses which will detail textbooks and any additional supplies needed.

  • Laptop - For personal devices, we've compiled recommendations that will ensure the best experience during your college journey.
  • Extension cord & surge protector
  • Paper, notebooks, binders, etc.
  • Backpack
  • Pencils & pens
  • Desk Lamp
  • Gaming system - Though optional, many students enjoy bringing their systems. The Game Room located in the SSC houses several different systems for student use.
  • Fan

Prohibited Items
