Winter Weather

Out of abundance of caution for the safety of GSW students, faculty and staff, the University will transition to remote operations on Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22. Classes will operate virtually, and students should check their GeorgiaView accounts for updates. All in-person University events scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday are cancelled. Residential students will receive additional information from Residence Life. Please stay safe and warm!

Home / Student Handbook / General Policies / Immunization Requirements

Immunization Requirements

GSW requires all new students (first-year, transfer, and others) taking classes on the GSW campus to provide proof of immunization.  The following vaccines are required:

  • MMR: 2 doses required
  • Hepatitis B: 3 doses required (students 18 and under)
  • Varicella: 2 doses required or documented history of chickenpox
  • TDAP: 1 dose required within the last 10 years

Required Meningococcal Vaccine for Residential Students

Pursuant to legislation enacted in 2003, all students residing in campus housing are required to sign a document stating that they have received a vaccination against meningococcal disease or reviewed the information provided by the institution (BoR Minutes, October 2003).

Student Health Services manages student immunization records.  Submission procedures are online at gsw.edu/immunization.

Any individual who cannot show proof of immunity or adequate immunization and refuses to be immunized shall be excluded from any USG institution or facility until valid evidence of immunization against the disease is presented or the epidemic or threat no longer constitutes a significant public health danger.
