Staff Senate gears up for Potluck Luncheon and Silent Auction
The GSW Staff Senate is currently planning for the annual Faculty/Staff Potluck Luncheon on Tuesday, November 17, from 11:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the Private Dining Room.
In keeping with tradition, Staff Senate will provide meats and drinks for the event, but it is asking for attendees to show off their cooking skills by providing a side dish. Examples of past side dishes include vegetables, desserts, casseroles and salads. This is a potluck luncheon, so whatever individuals choose to bring will be welcomed and appreciated. If you choose not to provide an item, that is also fine and the Staff Senate welcomes you to mingle and dine with other faculty and staff members.
Last year's luncheon resulted in a magnificent turnout, and Staff Senate is hoping for an even better one this year. In addition to good food and conversation, trivia will be played again. Get excited!
Last year's luncheon also brought about a new tradition: the Silent Auction. Staff Senate will launch the 2015 event at the luncheon. It is asking for each department, division, or office to present a basket to go into the Silent Auction. These baskets will be auctioned to the highest bidder and proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Staff Senate's Oris Bryant Book Scholarship program. Each department can choose any theme they would like. Members of the Staff Senate who are in the department will head up getting the donations for their individual departments. Please encourage your entire department to contribute. Any donation you make will be greatly appreciated. Staff Senate is asking all departments to have their baskets ready by November 16th in order for pictures to be taken and uploaded to the website for bidding. Please bring baskets to the Academic Resource Center. The following website has been created for each department to sign up for creating a basket: Basket sign-up link.
To get some ideas, here are several gift baskets from last year's auction:
