Georgia Southwestern's spacious campus allows for students to get outside and enjoy the southern weather throughout the day and after classes. Students can enjoy the walking trails and disc golf with friends or hang up a hammock and study with plenty of trees and a pergola in the center of campus. Various areas around campus allow for students to throw out a blanket and relax in the sun or catch up with friends. There's plenty of room to bring your favorite cornhole boards and get competitive.
Georgia Southwestern frequently offers students the ability to take group trips to hiking trails and biking areas that are covered by their student fees. These day trips include transportation, instruction, and meals. We only request you bring your own water bottle and wear comfortable, athletic clothing. Be sure to check the Connecting Canes newsletter for frequent updates.
GSW offers bikes to enrolled students on a daily basis. Bikes and helmets may be checked out with a valid Canes Card at the front desk of Florrie Chappell Gymnasium and must be returned by one hour before closing.

StaffThe Department of Recreation and Wellness has a variety of outdoor items students can rent. So grab some friends and pick up one of the following:
Our campus is open to the community when it comes to engaging outdoors. Feel free to bring your own games or sporting equipment to get outside and stay active.
Bring your valid Canes Card (Student ID) to check out any games or equipment we have to offer.
Some games require more space than others. Use your best judgement when it comes to setting up items or ask one of our staff members for recommendations. Horseshoes are already setup by the lakehouse. Other games such as cornhole and ladderball may be placed at a number of areas around campus as long as you give enough room for the game to be played.
Yes! Feel free to walk any of the sidewalks across campus. We ask that you remain on the sidewalks or marked trails and stay out of the roads.
Yes, dogs frequent the GSW campus. We ask that your furry friend remain on a leash and outdoors. Please be respectful and pick up after your animal if necessary.
