AMERICUS, Ga. (Jan. 7, 2016)—The Internet has revolutionized the ability to communication abroad and at home. As a result, it has changed the way education can be offered. And nowhere is that more visible than on a college campus. For instance, the Georgia Southwestern State University School of Business Administration offers two top undergraduate awards each semester – one to a “traditional,” on-campus student and one to a student who completes all of his or her business classes externally or online.
There were two recipients of the Fall 2015 the Outstanding External Undergraduate Award, sisters Brocha (Bro-ha) Bernhard, who majored in human resource management, and Kaila Bernhard, who majored in management. Though not physically on campus, the Bernhard sisters made quite an impression on the School of Business Administration faculty. Because of their devout Jewish faith, they were not able to attend Fall Commencement on that Saturday (the Sabbath) in December where they were to “walk” as honor graduates. A special reception was held for them the following week.
