AMERICUS (May 5, 2014)—Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) will hold its Spring 2014 Commencement ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10 in Convocation Hall of the GSW Student Success Center. Paul Jones, Ph.D., interim president at Darton State College, is the commencement speaker.
Jones’ leadership experience in higher education spans nearly three decades in Colorado, Georgia, Maryland and Utah. Previously, he was senior vice president for finance and administration at Georgia College & State University. While at Georgia College, he also served interim roles as president, assistant to the president, and vice president for academic affairs. In addition, he held the positions of vice president and chief of staff and vice president for institutional research and enrollment management. Jones holds a tenured faculty position at Georgia College as professor of educational administration.
An estimated 300 students are expected to graduate. Limited seating will be available, so guests are encouraged to arrive early.
Jeffrey Waldrop, Ph.D., professor of English and 2013 recipient of the Excellence and Commitment to Teaching award, will serve as the Macebearer and deliver the reflection. Gary Kline, Ph.D., professor political science, will be the Grand Marshal.
