Excellence in University Service

The award for Excellence in University Service recognizes faculty for their contribution to the essential work of Georgia Southwestern State University at the highest level.

Successful recipients will demonstrate meritorious service that is above and beyond the duties normally assigned to their positions and demonstrate dedicated service in their care for others. At the time of nomination, individuals must have at least one year of service at Georgia Southwestern State University.

Service activities may extend beyond campus and may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Volunteer work
  • Leadership roles or membership on the board of a nonprofit organization
  • Innovative service learning programming
  • Service club leadership and activities
  • Community engagement activities

Nominations for faculty will be reviewed by the Faculty Affairs Committee.

Featured Public Servant (2008 - 2015)

Awards were consolidated into a University Honors and Recognition Ceremony held annually in the spring. This award was combine with another and renamed Excellence in Service and expanded to include one award for a member of the faculty and one award for a member of the staff.
