Attend Welcome Week events and settle in during your first few days at Georgia Southwestern! Various events will be held for plenty of opportunities to meet lifelong friends.

Get to know other Hurricanes throughout the week by finding groups to connect with and attending various events on campus. Log in to myGSW to setup your profile and begin finding events and groups.

Thunder Camp

Thunder Camp is Georgia Southwestern's extended orientation program designed to assist incoming freshmen with their transition into college. Participants will have an earlier move-in day of Sunday, August 6.

Freshman Convocation

Freshman Convocation marks the end of New Student Orientation and is the official welcome into the GSW family. Following Convocation, GSW students, faculty, and staff will line Hello Walk to cheer freshman on as the newest class of Hurricanes.

Presidential Challenge Coin

As freshman begin the walk, they will receive a Silver Challenge Coin from GSW President Neal Weaver. When students graduate, they’ll exchange it for a gold one and give the silver coin to someone who made an impact during their time at GSW.

New Student Orientation provides new Georgia Southwestern students with various information sessions and networking opportunities to assist in the successful transition to college.

Break the ice at this year's Back to School Party free for all students! Enjoy food provided by Crave food truck, grab a sweet treat provided by The Sweet Spot, and enjoy classic yard games, a live DJ, and more!

Learn about all of our gold-winning organizations on campus to become engaged and enhance the GSW experience while also building lifelong memories and relationships. Cool down with an icy treat provided by Kona Ice!

Monday, August 19th

The Americus Showcase

Discover local businesses and organizations around Americus such as restaurants, boutiques and apparel stores, gift shops, non-profits, and more!
 

Tuesday, August 20st

GSW's Got Talent
7pm - 9pm | Fine Arts Theatre
 
Showcase your great talent as an individual or as a group. From singing and dancing to various other unique talents, show the crowd what you've got while the stage is all yours. Sign-up and show us what you got!

 

Get settled into your residence hall during Move-in Day! Our GSW family will be playing second fiddle by volunteering and helping you lift the heavy notes. Be sure to arrive during your designated move-in time.
