Which Program is Right for Me?

Georgia Southwestern offers several programs for students to pursue based on commitment level, program costs, and employer preferences. Students are encouraged to determine each of these items before deciding which program is chosen is most beneficial for his or her desired career goals.

  • Career Goals & Employee Preference
There are a variety of nursing positions and levels that require different education and credentials. In order to determine which program is best suited, consider what type of career you anticipate to pursue. While some jobs only require an ASN, others may prefer those with a BSN for specific positions or an MSN for more advanced positions.

  • Availability & Commitment
From traditional first-year students to those looking to increase their credentials, the time you are willing to dedicate to a program will help determine which program will best suit your lifestyle. Students just starting their education are encouraged to pursue a BSN, while the program structure of an ASN is built for those needing a quicker path to enter the nursing field. Those wishing to pursue an MSN as their end goal should complete the BSN program in order to save time overall.

  • Program Tuition
It is important to consider the cost of the program you intend to commit to. A shorter program will take less time and cost less than a lengthier program by default.
