Earn Your Initial Certification Completely Online!

The Certification Only Program in Special Education is designed for candidates who already possess a bachelor's degree in another field and would like to transition into the education profession. This program provides the requirements necessary to obtain a teaching certificate in Special Education - General Curriculum (P-12) from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

Program Requirements

Applicants must complete the following items to be considered for admission:

  • Pass the GACE Special Education - General Curriculum Content Exam
  • Take the Georgia Educator Ethics Exam
  • Possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with an earned grade point average of 2.75 or higher

Post Baccalaureate students must meet specific requirements for admissions. Please make sure to check all requirements for admissions. After completing the admission requirements below, communicate with the College of Education to begin next steps.

On page 3 of the application for "Application Type," select "Transfer."

For degree intended, please select “Certificate.”
