Why did you choose to attend GSW?
GSW picked me, chose me, loved me. From my very first encounter with GSW staff, I knew my needs and wants would be listened to and heard.
Please list your University highlights, achievements, leadership and awards.
Why did you choose your major?
I chose a major three times, actually. I was initially focused in sociology, then I majored in psychology, then information technology, and then back again to psychology. I chose psychology, finally, because it is a subject that I love learning about.
What’s your favorite spot on campus and why?
My favorite spot on campus is The Pods because the seating and tranquility of the area is perfect. I have a favorite rocking chair that I always use for lunch. I have another favorite chair that I use for lounging, no matter what event is happening.
What have you learned (or are learning) that has made the biggest difference for you?
Since I was in high school, I have always striven for straight As. My junior year in college was the most revealing and challenging time in my college experience. I’ve always known that failure, disappointment, and stumbling is okay, but I never experienced academic disappointment. I received my first B. Understanding that I am not a grade, but a successful student has made the biggest difference for me.
What is your favorite class and why?
My favorite class is Intro to Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. I love WGSS because we talk about important issues that all people face.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
My name is Spanish. My mom came up with my name from the TV show “Taina.”
What are your most used emojis? Why do you think so?
My most used emojis are the dark moon face and the otter! I use the moon face when I have nothing to say, something is funny, or I’m genuinely concerned. I use the otter after I’ve proven a point or want to emphasize attitude.
