Why did you choose to attend GSW?
I chose GSW because of how great the art program is. When I took my tour and was able to hear and see the department, it made me feel really excited and welcome. My mom also works in Americus, and I didn’t want to go too far away.

Are you currently receiving any GSW scholarships? If so, which one(s)?
I am receiving the Southwestern Promise, Tammy Lee Fortner, and the SGA Presidential Scholarships.

Why did you choose your major, or what do you love about your major program at GSW?
I chose my major because I’ve always loved art. As a kid, I would be painting and drawing in my free time. Through the art program, I have learned that I enjoy creating 3D art and sculpture.

What would people be surprised to know about you?
I think that people would be surprised to know that I used to be extremely shy. I’m so grateful for all of the opportunities that I’ve been given here at GSW, as they have made it possible for me to get out of my shell.

What’s your favorite spot on campus and why?
The third floor of the Student Success Center. I like going up there because of how many students hang out. There’s always someone laughing, whether it’s students or staff, and the energy is great up there.

Who is your favorite professor or staff member and why?
My favorite professor is Charles Wells. He is my advisor in the art department, and he teaches sculpture. I really appreciate him for continuing to push me to try more difficult things. He also has taught me that nothing is impossible if you have a good plan of action.

What is your plan after graduation?
My plan after graduation is to get my master's degree in art history. With that completed, my goal is to work in an art museum and hopefully have time to make my own art.

What is your favorite class and why?
My favorite class is sculpture because of how enjoyable it is. I love being able to show art that I’ve made with my hands. I have also enjoyed learning all the different mediums of sculpture. I currently work with wood to create art, but through that class I have learned metal work, welding, wax casting, and I have learned how to work with different machinery.

What is your favorite album? Why?
Channel Orange by Frank Ocean. I listen to that album constantly, and it’s been my favorite for about four years. I really like the songs on this album, and I’ve listened to it so many times, it is super calming.
