Why did you choose to attend GSW?
My first interaction with GSW staff made me feel welcomed and supported. After visiting the campus, I realized the entire GSW community made me feel that way. I knew I had found my new home.
Please list your University highlights, achievements, leadership and awards.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I'm a musician, and I also love music history. I've been playing the piano since I was six years old. I can play the piano, flute, piccolo, oboe, and I'm currently learning the guitar.
What makes GSW special?
GSW expends a ton of effort into making the campus experience memorable for students. They provide learning opportunities but also unique programming and events for us to attend.
What have you learned (or are learning) that has made the biggest difference for you?
Over the past two years, I've learned that I can't help others if I don't take care of myself first. I'm focusing more on self-care, devoting time to my mental, physical, and emotional health, and doing what makes me happy.
What has been your greatest challenge?
My biggest challenge has been managing my time. Balancing all of my past and current involvement with my academics proved to be a challenge, but calendars, planners, sticky notes, and electronic reminders have been my best friend through it all.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Don't be afraid to get involved and put yourself out there! Speaking from personal experience, I can say it truly enhances the college experience. Find an organization, club, sport, or job that interests you and just go for it. Never underestimate your abilities.
What is your favorite series to binge watch? Why?
My favorite series to binge watch is Living Single. It has everything I love in a TV show: drama, romance, and two extra sprinkles of comedy.
