Why did you choose to attend GSW?
I chose to attend GSW because of its strong sense of community and the opportunities it offers for personal and academic growth. The smaller campus size allows for more personalized interactions with professors and peers, which has helped me feel more connected. GSW also offers a range of leadership opportunities, such as my involvement in the Student Engagement Team (SET), that have allowed me to develop as a student leader and make an impact on campus.

Why did you choose your major, or what do you love about your major program at GSW?
I chose to major in political science because I’ve always been passionate about understanding the dynamics of power, governance, and how policy decisions impact people's lives. What I love about the political science program at GSW is the depth of the curriculum and the ability to explore real-world issues like political history, campaigns, and international relations. The professors here challenge us to think critically and engage in meaningful discussions, which has helped me grow both intellectually and as an active citizen. It's a major that not only prepares me for a career in public service or law but also equips me to make a difference in my community.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
People might be surprised to know that despite my involvement in leadership roles and a passion for politics, I'm actually quite introverted. I enjoy having time to myself to recharge and reflect, and I’m often most creative and focused when I’m working independently. However, I’ve learned how to balance this with my leadership responsibilities, pushing myself out of my comfort zone to connect with others and contribute to the community in meaningful ways.
What is a cause you’re passionate about?
Through my involvement in organizations like the Black Student Union and SET, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to advocate for diversity and inclusion. I'm committed to empowering students to not only succeed academically but also to become leaders who can drive change in their communities.
If you had to choose a discipline to study other than your major, what would it be? Why?
If I had to choose a discipline other than political science, I would study sociology. Sociology offers a deep understanding of society, social behaviors, and the structures that shape human interaction. It would complement my interest in political science by helping me better understand the social issues that impact policy and governance.
What makes GSW special?
GSW is special because it offers a close-knit community where students are more than just numbers. The smaller class sizes mean that you can build strong relationships with faculty who genuinely care about your success. There’s a personal touch to education here, and the diverse student body ensures that everyone can find their place.
Who is your favorite professor or staff member and why?
One of my favorite professors at GSW is Dr. LeJeune. His passion for political science and his commitment to pushing students to think critically have had a major impact on me. Dr. LeJeune not only brings a wealth of knowledge to the classroom, but he also challenges us to look at political issues from multiple perspectives. His teaching style encourages meaningful discussions and deeper engagement with the material, which has helped me grow both academically and personally. He genuinely cares about his students' success and is always available to offer guidance and support.
What is your favorite vacation spot or a memorable trip you’ve taken?
One of my favorite vacation spots is the Bahamas. I had the opportunity to visit a few years ago, and it was an unforgettable experience. The crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches, and vibrant culture made the trip special. I loved exploring the local markets, tasting Bahamian cuisine, and learning about the rich history of the islands. It was a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, and it’s a place I’d love to visit again someday
