Integrated Studies

Hometown: Newton, Georgia

Major: Senior integrated studies major with a minor in political science and certificates in criminal justice and leadership

Graduating: Fall 2024

Why did you choose to attend GSW?
I decided to attend GSW because of all the AMAZING opportunities that were offered to me before I was even a student here. Luke Ellis and Sam Blalock in Admissions informed me of all the great things happening here at GSW. They told me how close the GSW campus and Americus community were and how it truly was a small family. It's a decision I will never regret.

Are you currently receiving any GSW scholarships? If so, which one(s)?
I am receiving the Goizueta Foundation Scholarship, Harold Isaacs Scholarship, and the Charles Mix Foundation Scholarship.

Why did you choose your major, or what do you love about your major program at GSW?
Well, I have changed my major twice and finally decided that integrated studies was the route to go. Integrated studies opened an opportunity for me to get a degree with three different areas of study that I am passionate about.

What makes GSW special?
The people here at GSW are what makes this place so special. Everyone is welcoming and wants to help each other in any way. I am able to be a successful college student because of the people who have mentored me, worked with me, and care about my success.

Why did you decide to pursue a college degree?
I am a first-generation student, and I decided to pursue a college degree to change that for my family. I want to show my family that it's never too late to get what they want in life and college has definitely proven to me the importance of an education.

Who is your favorite professor or staff member and why?
My favorite staff member at GSW is Mikela Barlow! Mikela has been there for me from the very first day when I had Move-In Day jitters to now where I am so close to graduation. She has always been a great role model, always cared about the success of her students and was always willing to bring you back up from a bad day. (She is also the one I gave my silver coin to!!)

What is your plan after graduation?
I plan to continue working for GSW while furthering my education at a USG school in higher education administration while still focusing on student affairs.

What advice do you have for incoming students?
My advice to incoming students is to never give up. Continue working hard and getting involved on campus and in the community. Make these the best four years of your life.

If you had a time machine, when/where would you travel? Why?
If I had a time machine, I would travel 50 years into the future to see if I ever became the President of the United States.
