Why did you choose to attend GSW?
I chose to attend GSW because I came from a smaller private school where there were smaller classrooms and you were able to build a bond with your teachers, and they cared about you as a student as well as a person. I felt like GSW would be able to offer the same kind of classroom atmosphere. I also like the small town feel that it has. In Americus everyone knows and cares for one another and it very quickly became my home away from home.
Why did you choose your major?
I chose my major because several generations from my family have always owned their own business and business has always been an interest of mine. I chose management because it allows you to do a wide variety of different tasks every day, which makes every day very interesting.
What are your favorite things to do at GSW?
One of my favorite things to do at GSW is definitely BCM. They are very active on campus as well as within the community. I have been teaching a small group for 3 years and it has taught me several life lessons that I will take with me after college. They also have a free supper and worship service on Mondays, and I have enjoyed serving others there. It is a great way to get to know other people on campus and build community.
What is your favorite memory or experience you’ve had at GSW so far?
My favorite memory that I have had at GSW so far would have to be when we had a night of worship concert in the intramural gym and Austin French was able to come and do a concert for us. It was a great night that we were able to incorporate several campus organizations and make it one of the largest events that a campus ministry has ever had on campus. It was great to see all of the campus come together for an afternoon and enjoy time with one another.
What are your plans after graduation?
My plans for after graduation are to either go to seminary at Southeastern Seminary or to get my Master’s Degree and pursue owning my own business.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Some of the things I like to do in my free time are to go fishing and hunting. Southwest Georgia, and especially the Americus area, has some of the best wildlife terrain for people that like to be outside. If you are able to get involved in the community and get to know the people who live in Americus, everyone is very open to letting college students come and go fishing or to just have time to relax.
Who is your favorite professor?
My favorite Professor would have to be Dr. Fathi. I have always enjoyed going to his classes. You can tell them he really loves to teach and to be with college students. He makes class fun, works very hard and takes the time to present the material in a way that makes it interesting to the students. You can tell that business is definitely a big part of his life because he is very well versed in all of the subjects that he teaches. He also take the time to meet with students and you can genuinely tell that he cares about his students and wants them to grow, be challenged and succeed.
