Application

The scholarship is awarded based on the highest GPA (overall, science and specifically chemistry).  It will be awarded once per year in the Fall in the amount of $1000.

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY THE LAST WEEK OF CLASSES OF THE SPRING SEMESTER.

The Chemistry Club Scholarship

Application

The Chemistry department offers a scholarship for chemistry majors that play an active role in the GSW Chemistry Club. This scholarship is to be awarded to an undergraduate student attending Georgia Southwestern State University for application toward payment of tuition at GSW.  Two scholarships may be awarded, each for $500 (pending availability) during the FALL semester and will be awarded only once per student.

This award is available to chemistry majors with a minimum of 48 semester hours and a minimum of 12 semester hours of chemistry at or above the 2000 level.  The student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 and a chemistry GPA of 3.0.  In addition, the student must show active participation in the Chemistry Club by attendance at a majority of Chemistry Club meetings and/or events.

Candidates must apply and will be selected based on the criteria outlined above.  The highest GPA will be considered in the order of:  overall GPA, Science and Math GPA, and Chemistry GPA.  In the event of a tie, the cumulative GPA will be added to the chemistry GPA.  In the event there is still a tie, the award will be equally divided.
