Post-Baccalaureate Student

Second Degree and Post-Baccalaureate students are individuals who have received a bachelor’s degree from another institution and want to enroll in additional undergraduate level courses. Second Degree students are degree seeking while Post-Baccalaureate students are not wanting to earn a second undergraduate degree, only take courses for earned credit.

Second Degree Students - Degree Seeking

If you already hold a bachelor's degree and are wishing to earn another degree, you are considered Second-Degree seeking and should complete the following:

  • Students applying as a Second Degree Student should complete the online application.
  • On page 3 of the application for "Application Type" they should select "Post Baccalaureate Degree."
  • Then follow the same admission process as a transfer student.
    • Like Transfer Students, Second Degree Students must also send official transcripts from all previous institutions.
Second Degree Students are eligible for federal financial aid if they qualify.

Post Baccalaureate Students - Non-Degree Seeking

If you already hold a bachelor's degree and are wishing to take additional courses without seeking a degree, you are considered Non-Degree seeking and should complete the following:

  • Students applying as a Post-Baccalaureate Student should complete the online application.
  • On page 3 of the application for "Application Type" they should select "Post Baccalaureate Degree."
  • When applying, email admissions@gsw.edu and indicate you plan to be a Post-Baccalaureate Student and do not wish to complete a degree.
  • Then follow the same admission process as a transfer student with the following exceptions.
    • Unlike Transfer Students, Post-Baccalaureate Students must only send one official transcript that shows the completion of a Bachelor's degree.
    • If any desired courses require prerequisite classes, GSW must also receive an official transcript showing completion of that course.
Post-Baccalaureate Students are not degree-seeking and therefore are not eligible for federal financial aid.
