The Dual Enrollment Program offered through Georgia Southwestern puts students on the fast track to university success by allowing students to earn dual credit as they complete high school course requirements and begin their college career at the same time.
There is little to no cost for students who participate in Dual Enrollment and allows students to take up to 30 hours of funded credit within the program. Dual Enrollment is designed to provide participating high school students with financial assistance toward the cost of postsecondary coursework. Only approved courses will be covered by Dual Enrollment. Georgia Southwestern will loan textbooks to students, and the student will only be charged for the textbook if they fail to return the book at the end of the semester. Non-mandatory fees or supplemental instruction materials are not covered by the dual enrollment program.
Dual Enrollment is available to Georgia students at public high schools and private high schools, as well as, homeschooled students. Students can enroll jointly in high school and university courses or can concentrate on university classes alone. Regardless, students will earn college credit for all Georgia Southwestern courses completed and get a feel of university life preparing them for their educational journey.

Bring Your CTSO to Georgia Southwestern
We are excited to host you and your students for a tour of Georgia Southwestern State University. We love having the opportunity to showcase our excellent academics and wonderful campus atmosphere to prospective students. The tour can be formatted to fit the needs of your particular group, although they usually consist of a welcome from the Office of Admissions, a tour of campus and finally, a meeting with an Admissions Counselor. If there is a particular major associated with your CTSO, we can also try to arrange a short meeting with faculty from that department. An example would be a HOSA group meeting with our College of Nursing and Health Sciences to learn more about our available degrees and additional programs offered such as GAP.
Group tours can be scheduled Monday-Friday during our normal business hours. To set up your visit, all our office at (229) 928-1273 or complete the following form:
Reservations are required and we ask that they be made as early as possible, preferably no less than 1 week in advance. Additionally, there must be one adult chaperone for every 15 students. Requests for a school group visit should be made by a chaperone who will be accompanying the group on the tour.
If you need to cancel your group’s visit, we ask that you notify our office at least 2 days in advance, if possible.
*Due to the availability of admissions staff and tour guides, reservations for group visits are limited to high school students only.
Georgia schools are invited to participate in Georgia Southwestern's annual Science Day event! High school students are offered hands-on experience with multiple science demonstrations in the Science and Roney Buildings on campus in the areas of biology, chemistry, and mathematics. Different experiments will be held throughout campus including ping pong liquid nitrogen explosions at the Centennial plaza and enjoying liquid nitrogen ice cream. Students can also engage with our various reptiles and 3D printing technologies. The event includes lunch and tours of the university.
