Out of State BSED Students
Georgia Southwestern’s Bachelor of Science in Education (BSED) programs fulfill the requirements for teacher certification in the state of Georgia, but they may not in your home state. You can find out whether a BSED program meets the requirements for certification in your home state by reviewing this document.
If the BSED at GSW does not meet the requirements in your home state, you have two options. One option is to sign an attestation that you do not intend to return to your home state after graduation. You will find two attestation forms below, one a fillable PDF and one Word document. You can complete either form and return it to the Office of Recruitment and Admissions. Another option is to attend an institution in your home state. If you have additional questions, you can contact either the Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Rachel Abbott, or the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Bryan Davis.
Out of State ASN and BSN Students
The state of Georgia is a member of the Nurse License Compact (NLC), which allows graduates of the Georgia Southwestern’s ASN and BSN programs who pass the NCLEX-RN exam to apply for a license that will be good in all forty-two states that belong to the compact. The NLC publishes a map the shows which states belong to the compact (see NLC Map).
ASN and BSN candidates from states that are not part of the compact have two options. One option is to sign an attestation that you do not intend to return to your home state after graduation. You will find two attestation forms below, one a fillable PDF and one Word document. You can complete either form and return it to the Office of Recruitment and Admissions. Another option is to attend an institution in your home state. If you have additional questions, you can contact either the Interim Associate Dean of the School of Nursing, Dr. Michele Ragsdale, or the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Bryan Davis.

Students Seeking a Certified Public Account (CPA) License
Georgia Southwestern’s BBA in Accounting program meets the educational requirements for graduates to take the CPA exam. Since the CPA exam is a national exam, students from any state can qualify by graduating from the BBA in Accounting Program. All students should be aware that qualifying for the exam requires coursework beyond the usual 120 credit hours. More information on the exam can be found on the College of Business and Computing’s "Becoming a CPA" page.
