Georgia Southwestern creates an email account for every enrolled student which will serve as the official means of communication to students by faculty and staff. Your radar student email account is created after you have been accepted to Georgia Southwestern.

Logging Into Your GSW Student Email Account

Activating your Radar Student Email Account

To look up your email address, please follow the steps below:

  • Log into the Check Your Status Page.
  • Your student email address will be noted next to CanesNet/Radar Email:
    • The part before the '@' symbol is the username you need to log on and check your email.

Multi-Factor Authentication

To use your email account, you must first set up your Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) Method:

  • Visit GSW Email (O365).
  • Enter your full email address as directed, then click Next.
  • Enter your password, then click Next.
    • New student accounts (as well as accounts for students who are returning from being gone for at least two years) are generated with a temporary password unique to each account.
    • The password will follow the below standard for ease of initial login:
      • The letters "GSW"
      • At Symbol (@)
      • Your full StudentID number (913XXXXXX)
    • For example: Jamey Sturgis, StudentID 913XXXXXX

      • password: GSW@913XXXXXX 

  • You will be notified the organization requires additional information to keep the account secure, click Next.
    • You have 3 MFA Options:
      • Microsoft Authenticator App (recommended- most secure method).
      • Phone Call.
      • Text.
    • If you don’t want to use the Microsoft Authenticator App, click “I want to set up a different method” in the lower left. Then select “Phone” and follow the prompts.

Accessing Email

To access your Radar email:

Students, remember that your account is not permanent. It will be disabled one year after you leave GSW, and deleted one year later. 

Password Expiration

If you receive an email stating that your password is about to expire:

  • Log in to your student email account.
  • Enter your email address as the User ID and complete the supplied CAPTCHA.
  • Select the I forgot my password option, then click Next.
  • Choose the contact method to complete the verification, then enter the provided code if applicable.
  • Enter your new password.

Forgotten Password

If you have set up your CanesNet password, but have forgotten the password:

  • Visit Microsoft's email login panel at outlook.com/gsw.edu.
  • Click on the third option “I forgot my password (reset password)”.
  • Enter your email address as the User ID and complete the supplied CAPTCHA.
  • Select the I forgot my password option, then click Next.
  • Choose the contact method to complete the verification, then enter the provided code if applicable.
  • Enter your new password.

Password Requirements

Your password must include the following:

  • At least 10 characters in length.
  • Must contain characters from at least 3 of the following categories: Must not contain the user’s name or part of the user’s name.
    • English uppercase letters (A-Z).
    • English lowercase letters (a-z).
    • Base 10 digits (0-9).
    • Non-alphanumeric characters (for example, !, $, #, %).
  • Must not contain accessible or guessable personal information about the user (such as birthdays, children’s names, addresses, etc.)
  • Must be different from your previous four passwords.
