What is ACCEL?

  • The ACCEL Program puts you on the fast track to university success by allowing you to earn dual credit as you complete your high school course requirements and begin your college career at the same time.
  • The ACCEL Program is available to high school juniors and seniors at public and private high school students in the state of Georgia.
  • You can enroll jointly in high school and university courses or you can concentrate on university classes alone. Regardless, you’ll earn college credit for all of your Georgia Southwestern courses. Plus, you’ll get a feel of university life and learn how to make the most of your college experience.

ACCEL vs. Move On When Ready (MOWR)

“The Move on When Ready Act,” permits 11th and 12th grade students to leave their assigned high schools and attend Georgia Southwestern full-time to earn course credit that will apply towards high school graduation and college. Up to 12 hours of the student's tuition and fees are paid by the Georgia Department of Education's FTE funding. Coursework taken through Move on When Ready does not count as HOPE Scholarship hours. MOWR students MUST maintain full-time status and therefore, the MOWR application process and requirements are different. Please click here for full application process and requirements. Students participating in the ACCEL Program are allowed, but not required to attend GSW full-time.
