Wilson to serve as GSW School of Business

interim dean

AMERICUS—Elizabeth Wilson, Ph.D., professor of business and director of the School of Business Administration Undergraduate Program, has agreed to serve as the interim dean of the School of Business Administration (SOBA), effective June 19, 2010. Wilson will fill the position vacated by Dean John Kooti, Ph.D., who accepted a dean’s position at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania.

“Dr. Wilson is an outstanding classroom teacher and citizen of the Georgia Southwestern community,” said GSW President Kendall Blanchard. “Her global view of campus issues, commitment to campus growth, and tremendous energy will be important to the leadership she will bring to the school. She is clearly the right person for the position.”

Wilson joined the faculty at Georgia Southwestern State University in September of 1990. During this time, she has served as chair of the Faculty/Staff Grievance Committee, faculty athletics representative to the NCAA and the Peach Belt Conference, faculty senator, campus representative to the USG Alternative Dispute Coalition, and coordinator of the human resources track within the SOBA.

“Dr. Wilson is a capable and respected campus leader,” said Brian Adler, Vice President of Academic Affairs. “I look forward to working with her and the faculty as we continue to develop and capitalize on the growth and momentum of the School of Business."

Wilson was appointed after consultation with and input from the faculty of the School of Business. The search process for a permanent dean will begin with the opening of the Fall 2010 semester. A search committee chair and members will be named in the near future.
