GSW honors scholarship donors and recipients

AMERICUS—Scholarship recipients at Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) were privileged to share a meal with their benefactors Thursday, March 18 at a luncheon honoring the two groups.

“This event is my favorite function each year,” said GSW Foundation Executive Director Stick Miller. “I can imagine nothing more meaningful than scholarship recipients and scholarship donors sharing time and a meal together. This is a time of getting to know one another and a time for expressing gratitude. I look forward to this annual event.”

Sponsored by Georgia Southwestern and the GSW Foundation, approximately 100 people were on hand for the event which took place in the Griffin Bell Conference Center Ball Room. The featured speakers included Suzanne Robinson, a senior nursing major enrolled in the Accelerated BSN program and recipient of the Ard Watson Scholarship, and Rebecca Willis, a freshman special education major and Two Great Choices Scholarship recipient.

Other members of the program included Miller, who opened the luncheon with a welcome from the Foundation; GSW Foundation Chairman Rudolph Patterson, who gave the invocation; School of Nursing Dean Sandra Daniel, who introduced Robinson; Two Great Choices Scholarship donor Earl Gammage, who introduced Willis; and GSW President Kendall Blanchard delivered the closing.

This is the second time GSW and the Foundation have the held event, and they plan to host it again in the spring of 2011. For information on how you can donate to the GSW Foundation, call (229) 931-2014.
