GSW SIFE team competes in national
competition
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—Having won a regional championship in Atlanta in April of this year, the Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team competed at the National Exposition in Minneapolis May 11-13. More than 160 SIFE teams across the nation participated. Belmont University from Nashville, Tenn. was crowned the 2010 USA National Exposition Champion.
SIFE is an international non-profit organization active on over 1,400 university
campuses in more than 40 countries. SIFE teams create economic opportunities in
their communities by organizing outreach projects that meet market economics,
entrepreneurship, personal financial success skills and business ethics
criteria. Their projects are judged at competition on creativity, innovation and
effectiveness. Approximately 4,000 people
attended the National Exposition, including leading business executives who
judged the competition.
During the 2009-2010 academic year, the GSW SIFE team organized 23
projects dealing with teaching and promoting free enterprise at the local,
national and international level. The School of Business Advisory Board and
partners have been instrumental in providing the support necessary to complete
these projects.
