New programs, scholarships and more
RCI publishes spring 2010 happenings
RCI-Korea launched
In Seoul, Korea on March 22, 2010, Pres. Choong Soon Kim of The Cyber University
of Korea signed an MOU with Georgia Southwestern University’s Rosalynn Carter
Institute for Caregiving to launch RCI-Korea. The MOU marks the beginning of
joint curriculum development and certificate program for caregivers, the first
of its kind in Korea. In addition to Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter,
President Jimmy Carter, GSW President Dr. Kendall A. Blanchard and RCI Executive
Director Rick Birkel were present for the signing event.

The RCI will hold it's annual National Summit & Training Institute the week of
October 18-22, 2010 at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, GA.

2010 Professional Development Series
Research and Development sites of the RCI's National Quality Caregiving Network
will showcase their programs through a free Professional Development Webinar
Series designed to address the needs and questions of agencies and organizations
involved in implementing evidence-based programs for caregivers. Sites will
share their experiences, challenges, best practices, learning and wisdom based
on their ongoing activites.

Scholarship and Award Opportunities
Applications for the 2010 Mattie J. T. Stepanek Caregiving Scholarships are due
June 1, 2010. Four $2,500 scholarships will be awarded.

Nominations for the Rosalynn Carter Leadership in Caregiving Award are due July
1, 2010. In addition to a beautiful statuette designed by Frank Eliscu, designer
of the Heisman Trophy, the winning partnership receives a check in the amount
of $20,000.

Georgia REACH Program Expands to Additional Counties
Georgia REACH, a program offered by the Rosalynn Carter Institute, is now
available in most parts the West Central and Southwest Georgia area. The
counties served include Crisp, Dougherty, Dooly, Lee, Macon, Marion, Muscogee,
Schley, Terrell, and Webster. The program is designed to support caregivers of
loved ones with memory loss, Alzheimer’s Disease or related dementia.

and conference presentations on evidence-based caregiver programs, research
reviews and meta analysis, and other useful links to assist those interested in
bringing more effective supports to their community.

many partners. In this section you can learn about the history of the RCI,
browse photos reflecting our past 20+ years, as well as see and read first hand
stories of those doing important work in the field to support caregivers.
