AMERICUS--The 2009 nominees for the City of Americus'  Walk of Fame will be honored at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15 at the Rylander Theatre. Georgia Southwestern College President Emeritus William B. King, Ph.D., is one of six outstanding servants of this community to be honored. He was also a trustee of Lake Blackshear Regional Library. King died at age 91 in March 2007.

Also to be honored are the late J. Frank Myers, GSW alumnus, former Americus Mayor, District Attorney and member of the Georgia General Assembly; and GSW philanthropists Roy Lee and Susan K. Smith. Before their passing, the Smith's were ardent supporters of the University, South Georgia Technical College and the Georgia Sherriff's Youth Home.

The final two honorees include Sumter County's only Congressional Medal of Honor Winner, Luther Story; and Koinonia Farms founder and author of "The Cotton Patch Gospels," Clarence Jordan.

Nominees for the Walk of Fame are recommended to the Mayor and City Council.
