GSW signs transfer agreement with Andrew College
AMERICUS—Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) and Andrew College (AC) came together today to simplify the transfer process for many college students.
Georgia Southwestern President Kendall Blanchard and Andrew College President David Seyle signed articulation agreements to assist transferability of credit hours from associate’s degrees in pre-nursing and business administration at Andrew College to a Bachelor of Science in nursing and a Bachelor of Business Administration at Georgia Southwestern.
“We are pleased that the leadership at Andrew College has expressed confidence in Georgia Southwestern by working with us to develop a transfer system that will encourage their students to come to Americus to complete their baccalaureate degrees,” said Blanchard. “We are also grateful to Judge George Peagler, a member of the Andrew College Foundation Board, for his encouragement and assistance in making this new partnership possible.”
“Helping students transfer to four year colleges is Andrew College’s basic mission,” Seyle said after the signing. “This agreement offers a seamless transition for our students as they begin thinking about where they want to go and how they want to complete their education.”
The bachelor’s in nursing will be open to Andrew College graduates with an Associate’s of Science in pre-nursing degree and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8. Bachelor’s degrees in management, marketing, accounting and human resource management will be open to AC graduates with an Associates of Science in business administration and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
Located in Cuthbert, Andrew College was founded in 1854. Originally named Andrew Female College, Andrew operated as a women’s four-year college for 63 years. In 1917 Andrew became a junior college and in 1956 the institution became co-educational. Today, Andrew offers a challenging liberal arts curriculum in 40 different programs of study
