GSW plans October Continuing Education courses
AMERICUS—Georgia Southwestern
State University’s Division of Continuing Education is planning a range of
course beginning in October, including:
- Contemporary Writers—In this six-week course,
Dr. Elizabeth Kuipers will lead a discussion on contemporary writers. Four
of the six books are by Georgia writers, one a cardiologist at Emory
University. Class meets six Wednesdays, Oct. 6 through Nov. 10, 6:30 to 7:30
p.m. in the GSW English Building, Conference Room 206. Cost is $60. For more

- Stained Glass Basics—This is a hands-on
course in which students will complete a stained glass project.
All supplies can be taken home and are included with the fee. Class

- Be Your Own Wedding Coordinator—Class meets

- Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement—Class
meets Tuesdays, Oct. 5, 12 and 19, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the GSW Education

- “Gross”ology for Kids—For children in 2nd
through 5th grade.
This hands-on course will let students explore the solutions and mixtures of
science. A variety of slime will be made—along with some other “gross”
science experiments. Class meets Monday, Oct. 25, 5 to 7 p.m. in the GSW

- Kids—Draw Your Own Self Portraits—For
children in 4th through 7th grade. Students will be
taught drawing techniques and how to measure proportion. Class meets four

- Basic Medical Coding—This six-week, 24-hour
course introduces the student to ICD-9 and CPT coding. This course begins to
prepare the student to sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)

through Nov. 18, 5 to 7 p.m. in the GSW Education Center, with instructor
