Admission to the College

Undergraduate Degree Programs

Attention Prospective Students:
Student must apply and be ACCEPTED by the University prior to applying to the School of Nursing. All transcripts must be sent to the Office of Admissions in support of the University Application. The School of Nursing will not review any application without a student first becoming accepted by the University. This process is overseen by the Office of Admissions at the below link:

Admission Eligibility Requirements for Generic BSN Program

There are two admission cycles for Generic students, fall and spring. Students anticipating qualifying for entrance in the fall semester must apply for admission to the program by the announced deadline, usually in January or February. Students anticipating qualifying for entrance in the spring semester must apply for admission by the announced deadline, usually in late August or September. Students should contact the School of Nursing Student Services Coordinator for application instructions and deadlines, which will also be posted on the School of Nursing website.

  • Ø  Attain admission in good standing to the University
    Ø  Return the completed application and required supporting documents to the School of Nursing by the published deadline. Reference Form
    Ø  Complete all general education/core classes from Areas A, D, and F
    Ø  Lack no more than nine (9) hours of general education classes from Areas B, C, and/or E
    Ø  Satisfy the Regents’ Reading and Regent’s Writing exam requirements
    Ø  A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.8/4.0 is recommended.

    Must have completed all program pre-requisites
    Ø  ATI Test of Essential Skills (TEAS) exam and have official scores submitted to the School of Nursing via the Student Services Coordinator prior to the application deadline. Learn more about TEAS
    Ø  Must not have been excluded from another nursing program for any reason, including but not limited to, academic misconduct, disruptive behavior, or program failure.  A nursing course failure in another institution counts as a failure in this institution.   
  • ØProgram may require an interview. Applicants who qualify for an interview will be contacted by the program's admissions committee

    Admission Eligibility Requirements for Accelerated BSN Program

    Ø  Attain admission in good standing to the University
    Ø  Hold a baccalaureate degree or higher from an accredited college or university
    Ø  Return the completed application and required supporting documents to the School of Nursing by the published deadlines.
    Reference Form
    Ø  A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0/4.0 is recommended.

    Ø  Must have completed all program pre-requisites
    Ø  Program may require an interview. Applicants who qualify for an interview will be contact by the program's admissions committee.
    Ø  ATI Test of Essential Skills (TEAS) exam and have official scores submitted to the School of Nursing via the Student Services Coordinator prior to the application deadline. Learn more about TEAS

    Admission Eligibility Requirements for LPN-RN Program

    In order to be considered for admission into the LPN/BSN Program, applicants meet the following requirements:

    Ø  Attain admission in good standing to the University                                          Ø Earned an LPN Diploma from a program that is accredited in Georgia    ØProvide proof of LPN licensure
    Ø  Return the completed application and required supporting documents to the School of Nursing by the published deadline. Reference Form
    Ø  Complete all general education/core classes from Areas A, D, and F
    Ø  Lack no more than nine (9) hours of general education classes from Areas B, C, and/or E
    Ø  Satisfy the Regents’ Reading and Regent’s Writing exam requirements
    Ø  A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.8/4.0 is recommended.

    Admission Eligibility Requirements for RN-BSN Program

    In order to be considered for admission into the RN-BSN Program, applicants meet the following requirements:

     It is recommended to submit your completed SON application packet at least two months prior to the semester for which you are planning to enroll.  This will give us sufficient time to process your application.

    Ø  Attain admission in good standing to the University                                            Ø Provide proof licensure as a registered nursing in Georgia
    Ø  Return the completed application and required supporting documents to the School of Nursing (there is no application deadline for this program). Reference Form
    Ø  Satisfy the Regents’ Reading and Regent’s Writing exam requirements
    Ø  Must not have been excluded from another nursing program for any reason, including but not limited to, academic misconduct, disruptive behavior, or program failure.  A nursing course failure in another institution counts as a failure in this institution.   ØMeet the requirements of the Georgia RN-BSN Articulation Model
