The Dean's Welcome
The College of Arts and Sciences is composed of nine departments and offers undergraduate majors in a wide array of fields, ranging from biology to visual arts. The College of Arts and Sciences is also the primary academic unit responsible for instruction in the core curriculum; consequently, the foundation for the university education of all students. Activities in Arts and Sciences range from theatrical performances to gallery exhibits, from guest lecturers in geology to musical performances by students, faculty, and visiting artists, from events hosted in the Third World Studies Lecture Series to the annual publication of the student literary and arts magazine, Sirocco.
