Library Public Computer Policy

Georgia Southwestern State University Policy for Library Computers:

The computers in the Library may be used according to the following priorities, listed from
the highest priority to the least:

    • GALILEO resources, databases, online catalog
    • Internet information resources
    • Non-curricular resources

The priority for patrons using the Library computers will be:

    • Faculty, staff and students of Georgia Southwestern State University
    • Faculty, staff and students of the University System
    • Other patrons* (children 14 and under must be accompanied by a parent of legal guardian)

If all computers are being used simultaneously by the highest priority patrons, the Library reserves the right to set a usage time limit. If all computers are being used by highest to lowest priority patrons, the Library reserves the right to request that lowest priority patrons relinquish their computers to any waiting high priority patrons.

*Any patron 14 YEARS OF AGE OR UNDER must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. This parent or legal guardian is responsible for monitoring and supervising the child while in the Library, for that child's use of the Internet, and for any materials accessed by the child. If the child and parent fail to abide by the Libraries policies they will be asked to leave the Library.

Printing charges are $.10 per printed page for informational text and articles. There is no charge for printing citations. Currently enrolled GSW students are not charged for printing academic materials.

Warning:

THE PUBLIC USE COMPUTERS ARE PRIMARILY USED FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES. Patrons are responsible for the sites they search on the Internet. Georgia Southwestern State University's sexual harassment policy prohibits patrons from viewing and displaying sexual explicit material that interferes with other patrons' academic performance or created intimidating or offensive environment in the Library. MISUSE IF THE COMPUTERS WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF THE PATRON'S LIBRARY PRIVILEGES.
