Sociology

Sociologists seek to understand the actions of groups and the forces that affect social behavior. The goal of Southwestern’s Sociology Department is to provide a background in the study of human behavior that will prepare students for graduate studies or human service careers. The program offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology requiring 27 hours of upper-division Sociology courses which reflect the student’s eventual career goals. The faculty of the Department of Sociology believe that students must “learn by doing” and therefore students have the opportunity to take part in hands-on training through internships and research projects undertaken with faculty members. |
