The scientific study of the Earth has never been as important as it is today. Geoscientists focus on the protection of the environment, groundwater resources, natural hazards and the declining supply of natural resources. The primary goal of Southwestern’s Geology Department is to prepare students for graduate school or industry/government careers through traditional course work and extensive field and research experiences. The Geology and Physics Department offers a B.S. degree and a minor in Geology in addition to a dual-degree engineering program with Georgia Tech. Adding to the uniqueness and excellence of the program is the school’s seismograph which is located near our campus lake.
