Business/Pre-Law

I chose Southwestern because I graduated from a small private school and I loved the smaller school atmosphere. I also love knowing everyone. I never meet a stranger. Another reason for choosing GSW is that it has a very good School of Business. I plan to get a Business degree at GSW then attend Law School.

Professors are Outstanding!

March 19, 2010

The spring has been a really busy spring so far. All my classes have been so busy compared to the first semester, but I love all my professors and would recommend them to anyone. So I'll just list them for you: Dr. Kline for American Government, Dr. Thomas for English, Ms. Wilson for speech, and Coach Sewell for tennis. The spring at GSW brings many activities as all the clubs and organizations are now in full stride after the fall semester. I am in the process of figuring out if I’m going to take any classes in May, and planning my schedule for the upcoming fall. I am still very pleased with GSW and would recommend it to any one!

Good luck to all of you trying to find the right college for you!!!

Go Greek!!!

February 1, 2010

The past few months have been incredibly busy! I had a great first semester here at GSW! I was finally initiated as a Kappa Sigma!! Joining a fraternity is one of the best experiences that has ever happened to me! I encourage everyone to go GREEK, no matter what fraternity or sorority!

I had an amazing Christmas; I hope everyone else did as well, I’m glad to back at Southwestern starting my second semester. This semester I’m taking 16 hours… 6 of which are online. I’m taking Tennis, English, American Government, Public Speaking, Computer Applications, and Art Appreciation. The start of this semester is not nearly as hectic as the first… I am in more of a routine now.

Over Christmas break you, as I did, will actually start to miss Americus, the college, and your friends! The spring semester is going to be filled with a ton of activities, Hurricane baseball and softball startup soon and basketball is well under way. Don’t forget to start applying for all your local scholarships! They certainly helped me out.

Been Busy

October 22, 2009

The past month has been extremely busy as I am in the middle of my Kappa Sigma New Member Program and midterms. The biggest difficulty of college is by far learning to manage your time, but once you learn what you can and can't do, it gets easier. I am in the process of trying to decide what classes I want to take next semester. I will hopefully get all my classes in the time slots I want because I hate eight o'clock classes, even if it is only twice a week. Georgia southwestern is great with helping us choose our schedules.

College Should Start at 9:30

September 9, 2009

The first few weeks of class are going smooth. I hate my eight o clock class, even though its only two days a week and less than an hour. I would advise the college to start at 9:30 but that's just my opinion. I would also like to advise everyone to go ahead and take a math, I am in a class with sophomores that waited  a little while and they are struggling. The girls are going through formal rush this week and we will go through it next week. The biggest thing I’m trying to get used to is the fact that I set my own rules and own schedule, but I’m doing a great job!!

GSW is a very fun place, this past weekend i went home and visited my friends at GSU, we definitely have just as much fun.

GSW was a Wonderful Choice!

August 21, 2009

Ok, so I’m Ryan Garnto, I’m staying in Oaks 2 residence hall. The residence halls are actually fun; there are so many people here. We have now finished a full week of classes. It’s so different from high school… not having anyone to tell you where to be or what you have to do.

Move-In Day was hectic and very tiring. A bunch of the fraternities and sororities help us move in, I was helped by Kappa Sigma fraternity. It took all day to get everything in my room. I lofted my bed and put a full-sized bed underneath. I sleep as good as when I was at home.

I was worried about my class sizes but so far it has been a very easy transition. The Professors here all very friendly and very straight forward! GSW has been a wonderful choice so far!

I am Ryan Garnto

August 14, 2009

Hi, I am Ryan Garnto, and I am originally from Kite, GA but currently live in Reidsville. I graduated from Pinewood Christian Academy in Belleville. In high school I participated in football, basketball, baseball, and track. I was also the student council president, FCA leader, on the Debate team, part of the one act play, and on the yearbook committee. I was also involved in a tremendous amount of community service ranging from blood and food drives to fundraisers for cancer patients and mission trip.

I will join a fraternity this fall, following in the footsteps of my father who was Greek at GSW. I will also play as many intramural sports as possible as I love the competition and adrenaline rush. I hope to have the opportunity to join clubs at GSW and possibly even the student government.

I chose Southwestern because I graduated from a small private school and I loved the smaller school atmosphere. I also love knowing everyone. I never meet a stranger. Another reason for choosing GSW is that it has a very good School of Business. I plan to get a Business degree at GSW then attend Law School. I also hope to one day be very involved with politics on the state level one day.
