Every current student and employee at GSW has a CanesNet account, which is a set of credentials used to authenticate a variety of IT systems across campus. Your CanesNet credentials are your entire email address and your email address's password. Students and employees will use these credentials for:
Prior to logging into any of the IT systems, faculty, staff and students must log into their GSW email accounts, change their password and select a multi-factor authentication method first. Students will need to follow our step-by-step instructions here. New faculty and staff will receive an email account information sheet from the IIT dept, which must be picked up at the IIT front window located in Morgan Hall.
Student accounts are created automatically the morning after you have been accepted to Georgia Southwestern, are disabled one year after leaving GSW, and are deleted one year later. Employee accounts are created, disabled, and deleted based on Personnel Action Notices from HR.
CanesNet accounts that are inactive for one year will be disabled. Accounts that are disabled for one year are deleted.
CanesNet account passwords must conform to the GSW Password Security Standard.
Use the Change Password link when you don’t know your password and wish to reset it. You must be enrolled in Multi-Factor Authentication in order to reset your password. GSW students are enrolled during their initial login process.
For problems with your CanesNet account, please contact Technical Support.
