Winter Weather

GSW is closely monitoring the potential winter weather system that may pass through Georgia early next week. Given the considerable amount of uncertainty with this weather system, we will continue to work closely with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) and the National Weather Service as we consider any decisions related to modified University operations. Should there be any changes to our regular schedule, we will notify you by Monday afternoon via email, social media and GSW’s website.

Alumni Events

The Office of Alumni Affairs is dedicated to increasing alumni involvement and fellowship by offering a variety of affordable events throughout the state. Alumni and friends are encouraged to participate, make life-long connections, and remain involved with the Hurricane community. Events often include live sporting events, engaging over meals, and playing games that encourage friendly competition. Popular past events include the Annual GSW Night at the Hawks, Annual Night at the Braves, and various gatherings at local breweries and restaurants throughout the state.

Events are added online as they are scheduled. Many have limited registrations so we encourage you to sign up as soon as possible.

Gold Force Gala

6:00 pm GSW Storm Dome Georgia Southwestern State University will hold the third annual Gold Force Gala, a black tie fundraiser supporting student scholarships, on Saturday, February 1, 2025. The event will begin with a cocktail social and silent auction at 6:00 pm, followed by dinner and the 2025 Outstanding Alumni Awards ceremony at 7:00 pm. The evening will conclude with dancing and live music featuring the Emerald Empire Band. Sponsorships, tables and individual tickets are available.
