CHECK YOUR EMAIL!  Your PDSO, DSO, and ADSO will be sending important announcements and reminders to your GSW email account.

bullet

ALL F-1 STUDENTS present in the U.S. MUST file the required U.S. tax forms prior to April 15 of each year, regardless of income.

  • Form 8843 is the Statement for Exempt Individuals

bullet

F-1 STUDENTS are NOT authorized to work off-campus without proper USCIS authorization. Students found in violation of this restriction will be terminated via SEVIS.

  • A Social Security Card is NOT an Employment Authorization Card.

  • Click here to learn more about employment of F-1 students.

  • Please see a ADSO/DSO if you have any questions regarding employment.

bullet

REMEMBER: Only ONE (3 hour) online course may count toward the full-time requirement.  Students may take more than one online course provided they have fulfilled the full-time requirement with traditional "in-class" courses.  Please contact an ADSO or DSO if you have any questions.

bullet

DON'T FORGET to report a Change of Address to your ADSO/DSO AND the Registrar's Office within 10 days of the change.

bullet

NOTICE:  Nonresident students studying on an F-1 Student visa are NOT eligible for Georgia Residency.

bullet

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  As of September 1, 2004, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (USICE) will implement a new automatic update feature in SEVIS.  This means that records not updated in a timely manner may be automatically cancelled or terminated.  YOUR ADSO/DSO CANNOT UNDO THESE ACTIONS.  Therefore, it is EXTREMELY important for you to respond to ANY requests by your ADSO/DSO BEFORE the specified deadlines.  It is also important that you report any change of address or mailing preferences to your ADSO/DSO IMMEDIATELY.  If terminated, it is your responsibility to apply for reinstatement or return to your home country.

bullet

TRAVEL SIGNATURES:  Please be sure you have a valid travel signature before you travel ouside of the U.S. The signature of your DSO (on the third page of your I-20) must not be more than 1 year old when you re-enter the U.S.

bullet

ARE YOU TRANSFERRING?:  Any F-1 student who plans to transfer to another U.S. institution must contact their ADSA/DSO IMMEDIATELY. Failure to follow the proper transfer procedure may adversely affect your F-1 status.

bullet

Future Plans:  Any student who does not plan to attend GSW for the next semester should contact their ADSO/DSO IMMEDIATELY. This includes students who are graduating, changing status, transferring to another institution, or returning to their home country. Please be sure to contact your ADSO/DSO so that the proper paperwork can be completed in a timely manner.
