Georgia Southwestern launches new online alumni directory and fundraising solution

AMERICUS (Oct. 11, 2011)—Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) went live recently withBlackbaud NetCommunity Spark™, a solution designed to help the University complement and expand its existing alumni online presence and electronic fundraising capabilities.

“Kim Comer, alumni coordinator, and I are thrilled with the opportunities for communication NetCommunity Spark will provide for our alumni,” said Karen Holloway, director Alumni Affairs and Continuing Education. “For the first time ever, we will have an online alumni directory giving our graduates the ability to search for old friends and classmates.”

The online directory feature will allow GSW alumni to register with user ID and password credentials unique to them. Once logged in, alumni can modify their personal records, search for other graduates or make a donation. With the rapid growth and popularity of social media, users will also be able to share their activity through sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

“In all, we will reach our alumni electronically better than ever before, and they will have the convenience to better connect with us,” Holloway added. “We are grateful to our Alumni Association Board of Directors for spearheading this project to move us forward in our efforts to reach out to GSW alumni.”

Powered by The Raiser’s Edge®, Blackbaud NetCommunity Spark combines the industry’s most powerful fundraising system with superior email communication, online fundraising experience and membership tools. Georgia Southwestern currently uses The Raiser’s Edge for its alumni database and to process donations. Each donation and directory registrant information will seamlessly transfer to The Raiser’s Edge.

“Blackbaud NetCommunity Spark will create new opportunities to communicate with Georgia Southwestern alumni and donors," said Stephen Snyder, director of University Relations. “We plan to use the new software creatively and are confident that it will also significantly enhance our online fundraising abilities.”
