GSW Foundation mourns the loss of a trustee

AMERICUS (March 8, 2012)--In response to the recent death of GSW Foundation Trustee John Gill, Foundation Chairman Barry Blount and President Kendall Blanchard offered the following remarks:

Chairman Barry Blount – on behalf of the GSW Foundation Board of Trustees:
The board was deeply saddened by John Gill’s death and extends their sympathy to his family. Mr. Gill had served as a trustee on the Foundation board since 2002. His commitment and support of the University and the Foundation will be greatly missed.

President Blanchard:
John was not an alumnus of Georgia Southwestern, which made his financial and emotional commitment to this institution even more phenomenal. He was a business man who made generous donations to our School of Business Administration, but he was also a reader and a thinker who understood the importance of the liberal arts mission of the University. From a personal perspective, my wife and I will miss John’s friendship and our times with him which were almost always marked by a spirited discourse about great books and ideas. He was special.
