AMERICUS (Jan. 3, 2014)—Georgia Southwestern State University will host its annual MLK Convocation Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 11 a.m. in Convocation Hall of the Student Success Center. The keynote speakers are entrepreneurs and GSW alums Theopolis “Theo” and Lakinia Ramsey.
Since graduating from Georgia Southwestern with a BS in history and an MBA, Theo has worked for Habitat for Humanity, Aflac, CareerBuilder and Silicon Valley start-ups Glassdoor.com and Identified.com. He is the president and co-founder (along with his wife Lakinia) of Abstract Village, an organization that sponsors musical artists and artistic projects and conducts community service outreach. Theo is also the CEO of the Ramsey Resolution, which provides business consulting and marketing services.
Active in social services and criminal justice work, Lakinia Ramsey has served as a case manager for the Department of Family and Children Services, as an outreach coordinator and legal advocate for Liberty House, a program coordinator for the Victim Witness Assistance Program (Southwest Judicial District) and a program specialist for Georgia Crime Victims Compensation Program. Lakinia is also an author, serving as a writer for the Yahoo Contributor Network and having written a novel, “Good Intentions.” She earned a BS in political science and an MBA from GSW.
Theo is a native of Columbus, Ga. and Lakinia is from DeSoto, Ga. They currently reside in San Francisco, Calif.
