AMERICUS (March 20, 2013)—In honor of Arbor Day 2013, the Early Bloomer’s Garden Club of Sumter County donated a red maple tree to Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) yesterday.
The tree was planted on the grounds of GSW’s Rosalynn Carter Health and Human Sciences Complex. Garden Club members Leisa Easom, Ph.D. and Susan Young presented the tree to GSW President Kendall Blanchard, Ph.D., and Cody King, GSW vice president of Business and Finance. Easom is the executive director of the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving and Young teaches special education and Sumter County Primary School.
A ribbon cutting is planned for the second phase of the Carter Complex May 2.
