AMERICUS (Nov. 14, 2011)--The Georgia Southwestern Foundation Board of Trustees held its fall full board meeting Friday, Nov. 4. The group re-elected two current members and granted life trustee status to John Argo. Nominated and elected by their peers, the 33-member group provides external oversight to the Foundation’s operations.
Trustees accepting additional three-year terms are Mark Pace, a real estate agent from Americus who has served on the Board since 2005, and Wes Wheeler, retired president of Parker’s Heating and Air from Americus who has served on the board since 1994.
Now taking life status, Argo has served on the board since 1994 as well and served as chairman from 2000-2002 and vice chairman in 1998. During his Board tenure, Argo also served on the Development, Benefits, Nominating, Finance, Executive, Investment, and Lake Blackshear Committees.
The Foundation provides funds for Georgia Southwestern and manages assets and gift accounts for the University. The Foundation’s purpose is to promote in various ways the cause of higher education in the state of Georgia, with particular emphasis on the development of Georgia Southwestern State University.
