May Wykle to speak at Commencement May 5
An estimated 300 students set to graduate

AMERICUS (April 24, 2012)—Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) will hold its Spring 2012zMayWykle Commencement ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5 in Convocation Hall of the GSW Student Success Center. May Wykle, Ph.D. is the commencement speaker.

Wykle is the Marvin E. and Ruth Durr Denekas professor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She took sabbatical leave during the 1999-2000 academic year, having been selected as the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving’s first Pope Eminent Scholar.

An estimated 300 students are expected to graduate. The University is providing each graduate with seven tickets to disburse among family and friends. Limited overflow seating will be available, as well.

Gary Kline, Ph.D., GSW professor of political science, will serve as the Macebearer and deliver the reflection. Greg Hawver, Ed.D., professor and department chair of Health and Human Performance, will be the Grand Marshal.

A graduation breakfast is planned for 8:15 a.m. in the Marshall Student Center Dining Hall.
