AMERICUS (Aug. 1, 2012)—For most of the country, College Colors Day will be recognized on Friday, Aug. 31, but Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) will be celebrating it a day early on Thursday, Aug. 30, taking advantage of the campus’ most active day of the week.
To commemorate, representatives from GSW Athletics and University Relations will be set up in the courtyard of the Marshall Student Center – adjacent to the Dining Hall – from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The following items/activities will be offered:
• T-shirt swap – The first 30 students to donate a T-shirt from another college or university will be given a T-shirt promoting GSW and College Colors Day 2012.
• Southwestern inspired snow cones – Thanks to help from the GSW Office of Campus Life and Aramark, free blue and gold (raspberry and lemon) snow cones will be available.
• Pictures with Surge – GSW’s mascot, Surge, will be on hand for individual and group pictures to be posted on GSW’s Facebook page.
• Women’s Soccer team – The women’s soccer team will be handing out schedules for both the women’s and men’s upcoming season.
College Colors Day seeks to celebrate and promote the traditions and spirit that make college great by encouraging fans, alumni, and students to wear apparel from Georgia Southwestern throughout the day Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012.
