Arriving By Air

Southwestern can be reached by several area airports. These include Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Columbus Metropolitan Airport, Southwest Regional Airport in Albany, and Tallahassee Regional Airport. You will need to make arrangements for transportation from the airport to Americus.

Groome Transportation

Groome Transportation provides transportation from Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson Airport. Groome is a privately owned transportation company that transports people from the Atlanta Airport to Columbus or Macon/Warner Robins. All are one hour from Americus. You would need to make arrangements from there to Americus. To check available times and prices for Groome, go to www.groometransportation.com.

Southwestern Transportation

Southwestern's Office of Campus Life provides transportation to and from the Albany, Atlanta, and Columbus Airports as needed by our students. There is a charge for this service and we suggest students attempt to plan their flights with other students to lower their individual costs for this service. From Columbus

Southwestern offers transportation for students traveling from Columbus, GA to Georgia Southwestern for the English Language Institute (ELI). The ELI program invites other students to use this service on a space available basis. There is a $10 charge for transportation to and from GSW and the Columbus Groome Transportation station, Columbus Greyhound station, or the Columbus Airport. Each student is allowed to take one big bag and one small bag. There will be an extra charge of $10 for each extra bag. Students who register and pre-pay the fees first will have the highest priority. For more information or to reserve your seat in the van, contact John Fox at jfox@gsw.edu.

**The charge for transportation from GSW to Columbus (Groome Transportation, the Greyhound bus station, or the Columbus airport) is $10. Each student is allowed to take one big and one small bag. There will be a $10 charge for each extra bag.

**Transportation from Columbus to GSW is free for returning and new GSW/ELI students. Students can be picked up in Columbus, GA at the airport, at the Greyhound station, or at the Groome Transportation station. Students must notify John Fox of arrival day and time at least 5 days in advance. Returning students are limited to one big and one small bag. New students are allowed to bring two big bags and one small bag. There will be a $10 charge for each extra bag.
