Proctored exams

Beginning with the Spring 2013 semester the School of Business will begin phasing in proctored examinations in its online courses.  We are doing this for a variety of reasons, including increased pressure from the Federal Department of Education to verify identities of online students, and to increase opportunities for academic integrity.

We looked at several alternative ways of instituting this change and decided to use an online proctoring service.  While this will represent a cost for you, our research indicated that it would be preferable to limiting the times you could take the exam to times when official testing sites are open, as well as being less expensive than most of the testing sites.

Each online course will require one proctored exam.  The minimum cost for a 2-hour exam is $25.  Reservations made within 72 hours of your exam are subject to a $5 late reservation fee. Students without an appointment can take their exam on demand within 15, 30 or 45 minutes utilizing “Take it Now”. This premiere feature is designed to give test takers added convenience and only costs $8.75.  Late registrations and “Take it Now” are subject to availability.  Students should be aware that they are responsible for ProctorU testing fees.  We anticipate that a student taking a normal class load will pay approximately $100 in testing fees this semester.  ProctorU will administer the proctored exam.
